Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups cubed white bread
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • ¼ cup raisins
  • ¼ cup butter (softened)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, combine cubed white bread and raisins.
  • In a saucepan, heat milk and butter until melted. Pour over the bread cubes and soak for about 10 minutes.
  • Stir in sugar, beaten eggs, vanilla extract, and nutmeg until evenly combined.
  • Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish (1 ½ quarts).
  • Bake for 40-50 minutes until golden brown on top and firm in the center.
  • For caramel sauce, mix equal parts granulated sugar and heavy cream in another saucepan over medium heat until thickened.
